Louisiana
Camelback Ventures announced its Guardian Summit 2026, bringing founders, investors, and operators to New Orleans this June to drive collaboration and capital flow across diverse founders. New Orleans-based Beken Bio is moving closer to commercialization with the launch of a new CLIA-certified lab at the New Orleans BioInnovation Center, advancing its blood test for early ovarian cancer detection and building out the clinical infrastructure needed to bring the product to market.
Alabama
Innovate Alabama launched a new $15 million Capital Access Fund to help startups bridge the gap from pre-seed to Series A, with check sizes ranging from $100K to $250K and a required private capital match designed to pull more venture dollars into the state. Alongside capital, programs like FuelAL’s HBCU Innovation Internship are continuing to build the talent pipeline by connecting students directly with startups, accelerators, and innovation hubs across Alabama.
Arkansas
Tiffany Henry, Alex Hawkins, and Joshua Upshaw, Ph.D. took top honors at the IdeaFame Pitch Competition qualifier round, one of Northwest Arkansas’ most competitive early-stage showcases and a strong signal of continued founder momentum in the region.
Florida
OpenFX raised $9.4 million to rebuild cross-border payments infrastructure around speed and simplicity, while Yoga Joint secured $5.5 million to expand beyond Florida into new markets. At the ecosystem level, the latest eMerge Americas Insights Report points to continued growth in venture activity, talent migration, and startup formation across South Florida, reinforcing Miami’s position as one of the fastest-scaling tech hubs in the country.
Georgia
Sigma Automate raised $2.75 million to simplify enterprise IT automation, positioning itself as an “easy button” for companies looking to reduce manual infrastructure work, while Atlanta-based Sanguina secured new backing from the Georgia Biotech Syndicate to advance its at-home anemia testing technology and expand access to diagnostics outside of traditional clinical settings
Mississippi
DAWG Tank 2026 brought together more than 20 teams across innovation, Main Street, and high school tracks, giving founders the opportunity to pitch their businesses, build connections, and gain exposure to investors and ecosystem leaders across the state.
North Carolina
A new report shows North Carolina ranking #1 in the U.S. for tech job growth, driven by expansion across software, biotech, and advanced manufacturing. The NC Tweener Fund deployed $700,000 across 14 startups in its first statewide investment push, expanding beyond the Triangle and increasing access to growth-stage capital, while SetSale raised $2 million in seed funding led by York IE to expand its HVAC sales platform and Skillmaker added $1.5 million to its SAFE round to scale its AI-powered XR training solutions for skilled workers.
South Carolina
The South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA) continues to deploy capital into early-stage companies, awarding a mix of grants and investments across startups including RFIDKNOW ($50K demonstration grant) and Vet Media Group ($25K grant), alongside additional funding to companies like Clutch Intelligence, PostPixel, and Renoverse AI as part of its broader push to support commercialization and growth across the state.
Tennessee
PrepSolo, founded by Megan Quigley, won Knoxville’s “What’s the Big Idea” pitch competition, taking home the top prize after competing against startups across industries including wearable tech and climate solutions. At the same time, five early-stage companies—including Electrovia, Fuel Daddy, and PRSVR Systems—were selected for the 2026 Spark Mobility Labs cohort, where they’ll work directly with industry partners to refine business models and prepare for commercialization in sectors like EV infrastructure and logistics Meanwhile, Launch Tennessee secured a $350,000 grant from the Kauffman Foundation to lead a national study on technology transfer, positioning the state as a leader in expanding commercialization pathways for research institutions and startups.
